Cydonia, mit dem Track „Ghostdancing“, ist das fünfte Studioalbum des englischen Duos für elektronische Musik The Orb.
Ursprünglich bestand die Band The Orb aus Dr. Alex Paterson (bürgerlich Duncan Robert Alex Paterson, die Initialen von Duncan Robert ergeben den „Doktortitel“) sowie Jimmy Cauty. Eine ihrer ersten Veröffentlichungen ist das 23 Minuten lange Lied „A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld“, das The Orb auf einen Schlag bekannt und sie zu Ikonen der britischen Rave-Bewegung werden ließ. Cydonia, mit dem Track „Ghostdancing“ wurde am 27. Februar 2001 auf Island Records auf MCA Records veröffentlicht. Die Mitglieder Alex Paterson, Thomas Fehlmann, sowie die üblichen Mitarbeiter Andy Hughes, Nick Burton und Simon Phillips produzierten das Album für eine geplante Veröffentlichung 1999. Auf dem Album sind Robert Fripp, John Roome und Fil Le Gonidec zu hören, die zuvor nur bei Live-Auftritten mit The Orb zusammengearbeitet hatten.
Im Gegensatz zu früheren The Orb-Alben, enthielt Cydonia mehrere „richtige“ Songs mit Gesang, die nach Ansicht von Kritikern nicht wie The Orb-Songs klangen. Sie kritisierten, dass Cydonia Pop, Trance und Ambient-Dub vermischte, was sie als eine Ansammlung von fadem Gesang und uninspiriertem Ambiente empfanden. NME (New Musical Express) beschrieb es harsch als „ein totgeborenes Relikt, das durchweg von chronisch verkümmerten Ambitionen beeinträchtigt wird“ und beschrieb sein einziges geeignetes Publikum als „alte Raver“, die nach Nostalgie suchen.
